The County of Riverside is seeking a Traffic Control Painter to maintain roadways by painting and repairing markings and signs. Candidates should have experience in road construction and safety protocols, with a valid California Driver License required. The County of Riverside Transportation Department has an opportunity for a Traffic Control Painter position, located in Riverside.
The incumbent will play a key role in maintaining County roadways by painting, repairing, and prolonging street and highway markings, legends, bridges, and guard rails. The selected candidate will also be responsible for locating, assembling, and maintaining street signs throughout the County of Riverside. Additionally, Traffic Control Painters are tasked with maintaining paint spraying equipment, performing traffic control, and interpreting signing and striping plans.
The Transportation Department seeks candidates with a background in road construction and traffic control, as well as experience reading engineering plans. The most competitive candidates will have extensive experience operating airless sprayers, working on and alongside open highways, maintaining traffic signs, and holding Traffic Control certifications.
A Commercial California Driver License: Class A or B is required six months after employment.
The Transportation Department is responsible for planning, designing, funding, building, operating, and maintaining all roads, bridges, and transportation facilities within the unincorporated County territory.
Experience: One year of working as a helper in traffic painting or general road maintenance or construction work.
License: Possession of a valid California Driver License: Class C.

This position has been designated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) as safety-sensitive. Applicants are required to complete a DOT-mandated alcohol and drug screening. A positive test or refusal to test during the past two years will disqualify an applicant from consideration for County employment. Reference checks from former DOT-regulated employers are also required.
Employees in safety-sensitive positions are subject to DOT alcohol/drug testing in situations such as: random, reasonable suspicion/cause, return-to-duty, and post-accident.

Must be able to walk on uneven ground or wet surfaces and work outdoors during inclement weather, such as extreme temperatures.

Use spray guns, brushes, and striping machines skillfully; install and erect traffic signs and posts; follow oral and written directions; work cooperatively with others.
