RoadSafe Traffic Systems, Inc. is seeking a Traffic Control Flagger II in Abingdon, VA to direct traffic around construction and work zones.

This non-exempt, on-site role involves setting up signs, cones, and barricades and using hand signals to guide motorists safely. The ideal candidate holds a valid driver’s license, will pass background checks and a DOT drug test, and can work outdoors in various weather.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record.
• Must pass background check including motor vehicle records.
• Must successfully pass a drug test and meet DOT requirements.
• Wear proper safety equipment (boots with safety toe, hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest).
• Operate 2-way radio for precise coordination.
• Willingness to work in various weather conditions and traffic settings.
• Provide effective communication with contractors and internal teams.
• Work well in a team environment and maintain attendance.
• Complete ATSSA Flagger training and Defensive Driver training.
• Willingness to travel statewide, with overnight stays, and work nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Set up signs, cones, and traffic control devices around work areas.
• Direct traffic flow with stop/slow paddles and signaling devices.
• Maintain clear communication with team members via radios.
• Stand, walk, and handle equipment for long periods outdoors.
• Lift and move items over 50 pounds as needed.
• Drive company vehicles to transport equipment to job sites.
• Inspect vehicles and maintain them in good working condition.
• Work in environments with outdoor weather, vehicle activity, and fumes.
• Follow all company policies and safety procedures.
