Essential Functions

• Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in highway construction projects; perform manual work in preparing equipment or vehicles for use.
• Conduct preventative maintenance as recommended on all equipment.
• Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
• Material handling and storage and shop work as assigned.
• Support the daily maintenance of all vehicles (maintain fluid levels, fuel level and tire pressure).
• Load and unload trucks; follow proper towing of trailer mounted equipment.
• Deliver material to job sites.
• Ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Notify Supervisor of any issues that occur during work shift.
• Required to stand for an extensive period of time (+8 hours).
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment required by federal, state, customer and company standards during work shift.
• Ability to communicate with customers clearly and in a professional manner.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license.
• 18 years of age and older.
• Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy / highway construction work.
• Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
• Ability to read and comprehend work orders and plans.
• Ability to lift, push, pull and carry +50 lbs.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.
• Clean insurable abstract.
• Ability to acquire and maintain DOT physical.
• Able to pass drug testing.
• Able to pass Federal Background Check.Basic literacy: Ability to read, write and record routine data and information.

Additional Information

• Starting Rate $18.90 with the opportunity to move up in pay after 1,001 and 2,001 hours along with the opportunity to receive prevailing and state wage after training.
