Job summary

American Flagging, a member of the Helix Traffic Solutions network, is hiring for Traffic Control Apprentice roles in the Northeast. You will help maintain safe traffic flow around construction zones and assist with setup, operation, and removal of traffic control devices.

The positions require teamwork, reliability, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather. Training and Flagger Certification are provided at orientation. This role supports both part-time and full-time schedules.

Qualifications

• Be a team player with safety in mind.
• Able to understand and apply safe traffic control practices.
• Able to stand for extended periods and pass a drug screen.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Control traffic around work zones with signs, paddles, or flags.
• Set up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control devices according to project requirements and regulations.
• Communicate clearly with drivers to guide safe traffic flow.
• Monitor activity to anticipate and respond to safety hazards.
• Coordinate with supervisors using radios or hand signals.
• Adhere to safety protocols and wear PPE.
• Warn workers when signals are not being followed.
• Assist with loading/unloading traffic control equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
