Job summary

American Flagging is seeking a Traffic Control Apprentice to manage traffic flow around construction zones and incidents, ensuring safety for workers, motorists, and pedestrians. You will use signs, paddles, and PPE while following all safety guidelines.

No prior experience required; training provided. The role is outdoors, may involve varied shifts, and requires reliability and focus. A valid driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be willing to submit a drug screen.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Able to stand for extended periods (8+ hours).
• Traffic control/ Flagger Certification provided by the company.

Responsibilities

• Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic around work zones using handheld signs, paddles, or flags.
• Set up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control zones with signs, barricades, and cones.
• Communicate with drivers to guide safe traffic flow.
• Monitor traffic and construction activity to anticipate safety hazards.
• Coordinate with supervisors using hand signals, radios, or other equipment.
• Adhere to safety protocols including PPE.
• Warn workers if drivers fail to heed signals.
• Assist with loading/unloading traffic control equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
