Cupertino, California, United States Software and Services
At Apple, we build systems that power services used by hundreds of millions of people around the world, and every second counts. The Services Engineering organization is at the heart of this mission, ensuring our platforms are performant, secure, and always available. We're seeking a technically strong Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our growing team, focused on the future of traffic management, load balancing, and secure networking infrastructure. You’ll play a key role in shaping the next generation of how services communicate securely and efficiently across Apple’s global ecosystem. This isn’t just about keeping systems up, it’s about redefining how traffic flows through one of the world’s most critical networks.
Our team owns a foundational platform that service teams across Apple depend on for high availability, performance, and security. From intelligent routing to secure TLS termination, we’re building scalable infrastructure solutions that empower internal developers while protecting user privacy and system integrity.
As a Reliability Engineer, you’ll work closely with engineering teams in North America and Europe, contributing to a globally distributed system that operates 24x7 at immense scale. You’ll have the opportunity to design, automate, and operate core networking services that underpin Apple’s most important products. Responsibilities include: design, build, and operate highly available infrastructure systems for traffic routing, load balancing, and secure connectivity at global scale; collaborate with development teams to influence architecture, improve observability, and embed SRE best practices across the SDLC; respond to incidents when needed (on-call rotation), but spend most of your time preventing them through proactive engineering, monitoring, and system improvements; evaluate emerging technologies and drive innovation that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in secure, high-performance networking; contribute to a culture of continuous improvement: write clear documentation, conduct blameless postmortems, and help define SLOs that align with business impact; help mentor teammates and share knowledge across a growing international SRE community. This is an individual contributor (IC) role with strong technical leadership potential. You’ll solve hard problems hands‑on while helping shape the future direction of our platform and Apple’s broader SRE practices.
Base pay range for this role is between $150,400 and $277,600. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
