Job summary

City of Billings is seeking a Traffic Analyst to use AutoCAD, GIS, and engineering computer systems for traffic analysis and data integration. You will assist engineering staff, manage traffic control permitting, and maintain the division website, with potential to transition to an engineering role based on qualifications.

Salary ranges from $32.76 to $43.87 per hour, reflecting a 7-step pay scale; starts at Step 1, with pay dependent on education and experience. Schedule is Mon–Fri, 8:00 a.m.

Qualifications

• Associates degree and 1+ year in transportation, civil engineering, engineering, public works, surveying or related field.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to operate personal computers.
• Experience collecting and analyzing data.
• Ability to perform field inspections or site assessments.
• Experience collaborating with engineering teams, planners, public agencies, and project managers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to data accuracy and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Create maps for engineering projects focused on traffic analysis.
• Extract data from GIS and coordinate data into usable formats.
• Coordinate with IT to ensure GIS data accuracy for engineering projects.
• Enter and archive data for departmental records.
• Maintain traffic records database and proprietary analysis software.
