Job summary

Premier National Labor & Employment Law Firm in Portland seeks a Traditional Labor Associate with a passion for labor law to handle complex matters and develop expertise in collective bargaining, grievance arbitration, and unfair labor practice litigation.

Represent employers, draft pleadings, take depositions, and advise clients on everyday labor and employment challenges. This role offers collaboration with respected partners and direct client engagement in high-impact cases.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of traditional labor law experience.
  • Experience with collective bargaining and contract administration.
  • Experience defending and prosecuting unfair labor practice charges before the NLRB is preferred.
  • Bar admission in Oregon required.
  • Excellent academic credentials and strong writing and analytical skills.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented with a self-starter mindset and a commitment to exceptional client service.

Responsibilities

  • Represent employers in traditional labor matters, including collective bargaining and contract administration.
  • Handle grievance arbitration proceedings and represent clients before the National Labor Relations Board.
  • Draft and respond to discovery, initial pleadings, and dispositive motions.
  • Take and defend depositions and argue motions before courts and administrative agencies.
  • Collaborate directly with clients to navigate day-to-day labor and employment challenges, including drafting and revising employee handbooks and conducting workplace training.
  • Work with multiple partners and manage a diverse caseload under the firm’s free-market assignment system.
