Job summary

DRW in Chicago is seeking a Trading Systems Engineer for Global Options to join our Global Trade Support team. You will support mission-critical trading systems across asset classes, ensuring high availability and reliable deployments in a multi‑platform environment.

You will develop automation and monitoring tools, troubleshoot incidents, coordinate with traders, DBAs, developers and other teams worldwide, and build documentation to improve production support.

Qualifications

• Superior troubleshooting skills and the ability to navigate issues efficiently that do not have a pre-defined runbook process.
• Prior experience supporting high performance applications, process monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Prior experience supporting equities/equity options trading.
• Prior experience working with FIX protocol and alternative exchange protocols.
• Experience supporting electronic trading systems; prior experience at proprietary trading firm preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of network communications, including use of multicast networking.
• Must have some flexibility in work schedule; rotating on-call coverage required.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Establish best-in-class production support, efficient software deployment, configuration processes, and proactive monitoring to minimize downtime.
• Ensure maximum trading system availability to avoid missing key opportunities.
• Support production systems across multiple asset classes and global locations (primarily Linux with some Windows).
• Develop proprietary automation and monitoring tools and leverage third-party technologies as appropriate.
• Troubleshoot production incidents arising from internal software/systems or external market factors.
• Automate software configuration and rollout procedures to reduce manual errors.
• Coordinate with exchanges regarding trade activity, connectivity and related issues.
• Collaborate with traders, DBAs, developers, back office, QA, infrastructure, and global teams.
• Help end users and developers understand core trading and back-office systems.
• Build documentation for common procedures, troubleshooting scenarios and system architecture.
• Coordinate with other global support teams to ensure continuity in a 24x7 environment.
