Overview:

Our client, a top-tier financial institution, is seeking a Senior Trading Systems Lead contractor to assess and optimize the performance and resilience of their trading ecosystem across Fixed Income, Equities, and FX. This person will lead assessments of end-to-end trade flows—from trade capture to settlement and regulatory reporting—ensuring readiness for high-volume and high-volatility market conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate capabilities of trading platforms including ION MMI, Fidessa, Bloomberg TOMS, Raptor, FIX Networks, and Murex.
• Lead trade flow diagnostics: trade capture, execution, market data flow, intraday risk, T+0 clearing, and settlements.
• Identify bottlenecks across systems—particularly under market stress and volume spikes.
• Collaborate with traders, tech owners, and vendors to measure latency, throughput, and overall system performance.
• Lead the review of regulatory reporting and sanctions scanning processes.
• Assess and stress test cash products, FX, and ETDs (less focus on derivatives).
• Work with stakeholders to define technical and operational approaches.
• Establish repeatable processes and documentation for future handoff.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years in capital markets technology with a focus on trade flow systems.
• Experience with key platforms: ION MMI, Fidessa, Bloomberg TOMS, FIX, Murex, etc.
• Deep understanding of full trade lifecycle across asset classes (FI, FX, Equities).
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage high-level stakeholders.
• Comfortable analyzing data, system performance metrics, and market data feeds.
• Prior experience stress testing and optimizing trading environments.

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with collateral and cash management.
• Experience with regulatory reporting platforms and sanctions screening logic.
• Exposure to infrastructure capacity planning and real-time system monitoring.

Contract Details:

• 12 month contract, possibility for extension
• Hybrid work model, 2 days onsite in downtown Manhattan
