Job summary

Collier County, FL is seeking a qualified professional to perform specialized work on fire protection systems, including inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarms, sprinklers and pumps. Responsibilities

• Perform specialized work on fire protection systems: inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems, sprinklers, pumps, and related life safety equipment.
• Ensure all systems function properly and comply with NFPA and Florida Fire Code; troubleshoot deficiencies and support upgrades, installations and inspections across County facilities.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing, deficiencies and corrective actions; coordinate with vendors, inspectors and staff to resolve issues.
• Provide training and guidance on fire protection systems, inspection procedures and safety protocols; develop and deliver training to facilities personnel.
• Coordinate with building managers, contractors and inspectors to schedule inspections and access facilities, ensuring regulatory compliance and project success.

Job description

• Performs specialized work associated with fire protection systems, including the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems, fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and related life safety equipment.
• Ensures all fire and life safety systems are functioning properly and remain compliant with applicable codes, standards, and regulations, including NFPA and Florida Fire Code requirements. Troubleshot system deficiencies, coordinated corrective actions, and supported system upgrades, installations, and inspections across County facilities.
• Maintains accurate records of inspections, testing, deficiencies, and corrective actions; coordinates with vendors, inspectors, and internal staff to ensure timely resolution of issues. Assists in planning and executing preventive maintenance programs for fire and life safety systems to support operational readiness and compliance.
• Provides training and guidance to staff on fire protection systems, inspection procedures, and safety protocols. Supports the development and delivery of training to Facilities personnel to ensure proper understanding of fire system operations, compliance requirements, and emergency response procedures.
• Coordinates with building managers, contractors, and inspectors to schedule inspections, facilitate access to facilities, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and support the successful completion of fire and life safety projects.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

• Moves office furniture as necessary to accomplish other assigned tasks.
• Assists outside contractors performing work for the county.
• Substitutes for co-workers during temporary absence of same; performs various trade work as assigned.
• May be required to be on-call and/or regularly work on various shifts, weekends, and/or holidays as deemed necessary
• Performs other related duties as required.

Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency. On an incident-by-incident basis, the County’s Administrative Office will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
