Job summary

ESPN’s Legal department seeks a Paralegal Specialist to handle trademark prosecution, enforcement, and related contract work. You will work with in-house attorneys, outside counsel, and business leads to protect ESPN’s IP assets.

The role focuses on trademark prosecution, drafting and reviewing trademark-related contracts, and supporting non-trademark agreements from term sheet to signature. Requires strong drafting, research, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of applicable legal experience.
• Expertise in all areas of trademark prosecution and enforcement.
• Expertise in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to solve problems with independent decision-making.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
• Strong organizational skills and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Maintains ESPN’s global trademark portfolio by filing US and global trademark applications and renewals.
• Reviews watch notices for trademarks and domain names and tracks infringing domains.
• Conducts preliminary US and international screening searches.
• Drafts contracts and/or other legal documents for attorney review.
• Conducts risk assessment and analysis in intellectual property matters.
• Tracks deadlines and manages billing with outside counsel.
