Job description

Responsibilities

• Oversee the development, implementation and improvement of all trade program curricula.
• Lead the instructional delivery of a specialized craft in either Carpentry, Electrical or HVAC.
• Ensure program adherence to NCCER standards and assist in managing the NCCERconnect Learning Management System (LMS). Ensure all instructors are certified and deliver training based upon NCCER standards. Assist with setting up and managing NCCERconnect.
• Perform Salesforce and NCCER data entry, process client background checks, maintain a database of required and completed training courses, and prepare reports for management.
• Develop and implement hands‑on projects that are aligned with and reinforce concepts.
• Obtain and integrate information into training services, curriculum, instructional materials and tests from Goodwill partners to meet current industry requirements.
• Collaborate actively with business subject matter experts to develop/enhance curriculum to ensure courses meet industry standards and business hiring needs.
• Plan, organize and direct training activities using various media and leveraging partner agencies. Incorporate techniques to accommodate all learning styles.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to Instructor Assistants to maintain instructional excellence and program consistency.
• Monitor daily schedule compliance for instructors.
• Maintain OSHA standards to ensure a safe learning environment for students and staff while keeping abreast of regulatory changes and promptly implementing adjustments as appropriate.
• Oversee inventory of Construction Basics tools and equipment, ensuring they are well‑maintained.
• Facilitate procurement of necessary tools, supplies and materials for instructional purposes.
• Maintain knowledge of industry trends to identify evolving training needs.
• Assign, track and procure textbooks and loaner laptops.
• Develop and administer written and practical exams to evaluate students’ performance.
• Support student recruitment and engage in community‑based activities.
• Collaborate with other GISP department leadership to identify client training needs and community support services.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university in Organizational Development, Adult Learning, Business or a related field or minimum of five years’ experience developing, coordinating and conducting training in construction and trades industries and two years in leadership or teaching roles, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. NCCER certification and familiarity with OSHA regulations (OSHA 10 Certification preferred). Obtain NCCER Instructor under the Accreditation Sponsorship of GISP.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Driver’s License (Class C), car insurance and reliable automobile required.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly (more than 2/3 of the day) required to hear and stand. The team member frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the day) is required to sit, talk, walk and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The team member will occasionally be required to climb ladders/scaffolding, wear safety equipment (i.e. hard hats, safety glasses, tool belt, construction boots, etc.), lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs, stoop kneel, crouch or crawl in awkward positions.
