Job summary

Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont seeks a seasoned leader to oversee the Construction Skills Training Center. You will guide operations, ensure quality and safety, and manage relationships with training partners and community stakeholders.

The role requires directing staff, aligning with NCCER standards, and driving program outcomes. You will collaborate with Career Navigators and the Employer Engagement Team to deliver impactful services, monitor performance, and refine processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business or related field and five years of increasingly responsible management experience in Trade Industry Adult Education.
  • Industry expertise in Construction Industry Adult Education.
  • Valid Driver's License with car insurance and reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, quality control and support of Goodwill Construction Skills Training programs.
  • Supervise Trade School staff and instructors; ensure safety and security.
  • Interface with internal teams and external partners to drive program outcomes and NCCER compliance.

Manages quality services provided, program success and outcomes, Safety and Security, as well as relationships with training partners, community partners, Career Navigators, and the Employer Engagement Team by performing the following duties.

SUMMARY Provides day-to-day leadership, guidance, quality control and support of Goodwill Construction Skills Training programs and facility. Manages quality services provided, program success and outcomes, Safety and Security, as well as relationships with training partners, community partners, Career Navigators, and the Employer Engagement Team by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES are listed below in order of importance, from most important to least important. Provides day-to-day leadership, supervision and operational support required to achieve annual departmental performance objectives. Interfaces with internal teams of all phases of the intake process and career continuum to assist participants seeking services. Updates Standard Operating Procedures, activities and a succession plan for the Goodwill Trade School team. Remains current on best practices, trends and opportunities in the construction industry. Makes connections between internal research, workforce data and impact, best practices and organizational needs to develop effective solutions. Analyzes service delivery data and monitors service outcomes. Supervises staff; see Supervisory Responsibilities below. Communicates strategic direction of Goodwill Construction Skills Training Center operations to internal and external stakeholders. Ensures program meets National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) requirements to qualify as a Training Unit. Audits NCCER performance profiles for signatures and dates. Assists Trade School Leadership with networking with local companies and subject matter experts to establish a base of qualified instructors who are able to train current industry needs. Provides direction to instructors regarding daily responsibilities. Participates in strategic planning and needs assessment/research activities to build Goodwill Construction Skills programs that supports and accomplishes the organization’s mission; and utilizes technology to improve processes, engage participants and improve accessibility to learning while driving training outcomes. Assesses and enhances engaging and relevant training, consults with management to analyze efficiency and effectiveness and works with Director to identify recommended changes. Oversees data collection, monitors outcomes as well as appropriate budget information, uses data analytics to identify trends and opportunities and maintains appropriate data and reports as appropriate.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises Trade School Training Coordinator, Support Specialist, Instructors, Teaching Assistants, Trade School Navigator, and Trade School Training Program Experience Coordinator. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; coaching and mentoring; addressing complaints and resolving problems; participating in budget development and management.

Additional Responsibilities

Serves on organizational, divisional, and community teams and projects as needed. Performs other job-related tasks as assigned by the Director, Goodwill Construction Training

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor\'s Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Construction Management, Business or related field and five years of increasingly responsible management experience in Trade Industry Adult Education; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. INDUSTRY EXPERTISE Subject Matter Expert in Construction Industry Adult Education. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Driver\'s License (Class C), car insurance and reliable automobile and safe driving record (as determined by the Agency\'s insurance carrier) required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly (more than 2/3 of the day) required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The team member frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the day) is required to talk or hear. Regular local travel required in the community to provide employer and business services, marketing, and recruitment activities. The team member will occasionally be required to wear safety equipment (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, tool belt, construction boots, etc.), lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
