Trade Desk Specialist – Electronic Trading / FX Markets
A leading global financial markets and trading technology organization is seeking a Trade Desk Specialist to join its Electronic FX Operations team. Key Responsibilities
Trading Desk & Client Support
- Serve as a primary point of contact for institutional clients, providing real-time support for trading, connectivity, market data, and platform-related inquiries.
- Troubleshoot complex technical and operational issues involving APIs, trading workflows, connectivity, and system functionality.
- Document incidents, root cause analysis, and resolutions to support continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior team members during daily operations and critical incidents.
Trading Platform Operations
- Perform pre-market system health checks and ensure platform readiness before the trading session begins.
- Continuously monitor trading activity, market data feeds, and system performance throughout the trading day.
- Escalate operational or technical issues appropriately while maintaining clear communication with internal stakeholders.
- Maintain operational procedures, documentation, and monitoring processes.
Technical Support
- Diagnose production issues using Linux command-line tools, log analysis, and network troubleshooting techniques.
- Utilize SQL to investigate trading and operational data.
- Support client onboarding, API certification, and connectivity testing.
- Partner with engineering teams to investigate production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term improvements.
Trading Operations
- Monitor market activity for trading anomalies, pricing discrepancies, and operational issues.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external market participants to resolve trading-related concerns.
- Assist with onboarding institutional trading clients and validating production readiness.
Process Improvement
- Collaborate across Operations, Technology, and Client Services to improve workflows and client experience.
- Contribute to operational enhancements, documentation, automation initiatives, and platform stability projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of experience supporting electronic trading platforms, financial markets, or technical operations.
- Strong understanding of electronic trading environments and financial market infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of FX markets is highly preferred.
- Experience using Linux in a production environment.
- Strong SQL skills for querying and analyzing operational data.
- Knowledge of FIX protocol and electronic trading connectivity.
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience supporting institutional clients.
- Experience using ticketing systems such as Jira or similar platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a global or 24/5 trading support environment.
- Knowledge of market data protocols such as ITCH.
- Experience with Linux performance monitoring and system diagnostics.
- Python or other scripting languages for automation.
- Experience developing operational procedures and technical documentation.
- Background supporting institutional trading clients, banks, asset managers, or broker-dealers.
Schedule
- Standard coverage aligned with the U.S. trading session (approximately 11:00 AM–7:00 PM ET).
- Hybrid work environment with four days onsite each week.
- Participation in an on-call rotation for occasional weekend and holiday market support, including limited remote Sunday coverage.
