Job summary

NRS, Inc. is seeking an experienced Tractor/Trailer Technician in New Jersey to ensure safety, reliability, and cost efficiency of our fleet.

You will perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and high-quality repairs to minimize downtime and roadside breakdowns, while documenting work and maintaining records. The role requires advanced electrical diagnostics, heavy-duty equipment knowledge, and strong computer skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • 2-year heavy-duty truck/trailer technical training.
  • Advanced knowledge and skill in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems.
  • Advanced computer skills and knowledge.
  • Moderate knowledge of DOT regulations, basic knowledge of OSHA safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on tractors, trailers, converter dollies, lift-gates, light-duty vehicles, and other company-owned equipment to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and perform quality repairs to manufacturer specifications on a variety of vehicle and trailer systems.
  • Address Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) write-ups efficiently and accurately to ensure vehicles remain road-ready and compliant.
  • Execute preventive maintenance and repair activities that minimize downtime, prevent roadside breakdowns, and improve overall fleet performance.
  • Follow established procedures, accurately document work orders, and utilize company systems to maintain maintenance records and operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making related to fleet maintenance and repair while communicating effectively with the Fleet Manager/Supervisor on a daily basis.
  • Operate within established authority and performance parameters, escalating issues appropriately when limits are exceeded.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Overview
