Quality Repair Solutions in Walnut, CA is seeking an energetic Trailer Mechanic to diagnose and repair semi-truck trailers and tractors, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure compliance with DOT and safety standards. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers; perform 90-day inspections to ensure FHWA standards.
  • Operate yard hostler to move trailers within yard and shop as needed.
  • Order and receive parts; adhere to OSHA safety and environmental policies.
  • Maintain clean, organized work environment and document all maintenance in software.

Job Summary:

Responsible for diagnosing, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on semi-truck trailers and tractors, including tasks like brake adjustments, tire replacements, electrical troubleshooting, basic structural repairs, and more, all while working out of a service truck and adhering to strict safety regulations; general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and company standards. Uses technical publications or automated systems in maintaining vehicles to prescribed manufacturers’ maintenance schedules and for researching parts. Properly annotates all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers. Perform annual/systematic 90 day inspections (trailers) on equipment as required. Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards.
  • Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed.
  • Order and receive parts and supplies as needed.
  • Adheres to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous waste.

Requirements

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, hours to be determined.
  • The shop has a climate similar to outdoor weather. Frequent exposure to loud machinery, air tool operation, hammering and engine noise.

  • Able to meet safety standards for fall protection harness - max weight 310 lbs. (includes all PPE worn)
