Job summary

Memphis is seeking a highly skilled truck operator to drive a large over-the-road diesel tractor and pull trailers to transfer and disposal sites. The role requires securing loads, using hydraulic systems for loading/unloading, and following safety regulations under supervision.

You will assist with heavy equipment transport, participate in emergency response efforts for fires or natural disasters, and may help with basic repairs as needed on site.

• Perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance.

Job description

Salary Range: $48,326.20 - $48,326.20 Works under the supervision of an assigned supervisor. Operates a large over-the-road diesel-powered tractor pulling trailers to and from transfer and disposal sites as well as lowboy trailer transporting heavy equipment to and from the field. Drives the truck to destination applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle. Observes bridges and underpasses to ensure clearance of loads. Connects and disconnects tractor and various trailers. Ensures load/equipment is properly secured. Operates hydraulic systems to lower and raise various trailer doors for loading and unloading material and heavy equipment machinery. Operates dump mechanism to deposit load at work site. Performs routine maintenance such as lubricating, fueling and cleaning equipment. Operates a diesel tractor and dump trailer, as well as tandem axle dump truck when needed. Assists with emergency response operations including transporting heavy equipment and generators to various locations such as to fire calls, as well as natural disasters. May assist with the repair of sanitary sewer pipe.
