Job summary

J.B. Hunt in Joliet, IL is seeking a Tractor Technician Trainee to learn air brake systems, FHWA inspections, and related repairs under close supervision. This full-time role may involve outdoor work, variable shifts, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.

You will shadow experienced techs, perform tasks per guidelines, and gradually gain proficiency in maintenance and repairs while adhering to shop policies and safety rules.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Willingness to work outdoors or on multiple shifts including nights/weekends.
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to read and understand documents in English.
• Willingness to wear PPE and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Shadow a senior technician to learn repairs per manufacturer specs and company requirements.
• Complete work orders and train to meet standard repair times and warranty guidelines.
• Adhere to shop safety procedures and communicate professionally with JB Hunt personnel and customers.
• Develop proficiency in routine preventive maintenance and component replacement related to air brake systems and FHWA inspections.
