Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Harbeson, Delaware, seeks a Tractor Technician Trainee to gain foundational knowledge of tools, safety, and shop rules while learning air brake systems and FHWA inspections.

This full-time role may involve outdoor work and various shifts, including nights and weekends, with overtime opportunities. You will shadow experienced technicians, perform basic repairs, and contribute to preventative maintenance under supervision, building essential skills for a career in

Qualifications

• 18 years of age
• Willingness to work outdoors or across multiple shifts incl. nights/weekends
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)
• Able to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move up to 50 pounds)
• Able to multitask and work both independently and in a team
• Comfortable reading documents/information in English
• Ability to wear PPE and protective gear
• Basic computer skills and/or comfortable with a computer
• Good time management and organizational skills
• Self-motivated and reliable

Responsibilities

• Shadow a senior team member to learn repairs to company/manufacturer specs
• Complete work orders and train to meet standard repair times and warranty guidelines
• Follow all shop safety procedures
• Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers
• Train to be efficient in routine preventative maintenance and basic air brake system repairs
• Assist with parts/components replacement and FHWA inspections
