Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Indianapolis, Indiana seeks a Tractor Technician Trainee to gain foundational knowledge of tools, safety, and shop rules while assisting with air brake systems and FHWA inspections.

The role may involve outdoor work, various shifts, and overtime as needed. Under close supervision, you will shadow senior technicians, learn repair procedures, and develop skills to meet standard repair times and warranty guidelines while maintaining professionalism with customers and JB

Qualifications

• 18 years of age
• Willingness to work outdoors or across multiple shifts including nights/weekends
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Effective written and verbal communication
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
• Ability to multitask and read documents in English
• Wear protective gear/PPE and work independently or in a team
• Basic computer skills and time management

Responsibilities

• Shadow a more senior team member to learn to perform repairs to company and manufacturer's specifications, complete work orders, and train to be efficient in standard repair times and warranty guidelines
• Follow all shop safety procedures
• Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers at all times
• Train to become efficient in routine preventative maintenance, replacement of parts, and basic repair related to air brake systems and FHWA inspections
