Job summary

Western Express, Inc. is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to maintain our tractor and equipment fleet, perform DOT-compliant inspections, diagnostics, and repairs to keep vehicles safe and compliant.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred), strong communication, basic computer skills, and a reliable, team‑oriented attitude. DOT drug screen and physical are required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform DOT‑compliant inspections, maintenance, and repairs on fleet vehicles.
  • Complete preventative maintenance per standards and manufacturer guidance.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair major vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, DEF systems, HVAC, and driver‑safety technologies.
  • Utilize OEM diagnostic software and tools to identify issues.
  • Participate in training to stay current with industry standards.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area per safety policies.
  • Complete pre‑employment drug screen and DOT physical.

Overview

Western Express, Inc. is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to provide safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance for our tractor and equipment fleet. The successful candidate will perform DOT‑compliant inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform DOT‑compliant inspections, maintenance, and repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Complete preventative maintenance services in accordance with company standards and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair major vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, DEF systems, HVAC/air‑conditioning systems, and driver‑safety technologies.
  • Utilize OEM diagnostic software and tools to accurately identify and resolve issues.
  • Participate in training opportunities to enhance technical knowledge and stay current with industry standards.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment following all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Successfully complete a pre‑employment drug screening and DOT physical examination.
Qualifications

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods. Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
