Job summary

TRDI Incorporated is seeking a Tractor Operator to attach and operate industrial tractors with batwing shredders and other implements on airfield properties. You will perform lawn maintenance, operate mowers, edge, trim, and apply fertilizers, while ensuring safety procedures and security clearances are met.

Requires high school or GED, 1 year of relevant experience, ability to communicate clearly, work with a team, and maintain records.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain grounds of industrial, commercial, or public property.
  • Operate tractors and attachments (batwing shredder) to perform mowing and landscaping tasks.
  • Fasten, adjust, lubricate, and perform minor repairs on tractors and attachments.
  • Use hedge trimmers, edging tools, and spray lawns with fertilizer or insecticide.
  • Ensure safety and OPS/OPSEC procedures; pass security clearance as required.
  • Support airfield ground maintenance and comply with GFP and EM 385‑1‑1.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 11:30 pm to 8:30 am

Full‑time Position

Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

Position Summary

The Tractor Operator fastens attachments such as graders, plows, rollers, mowers (over 2000 lbs.), backhoes, seeders, and disc harrows to tractor, adjusts equipment for proper operation, lubricates and makes minor repairs to tractor and attachments such as tightening bolts, and replacing washers, cotter pins, and screws. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but the organization may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain grounds of industrial, commercial, or public property such as buildings, roadsides, airfields, and athletic fields.
  • Perform minor equipment repairs, such as cutting grass using batwing mowers (more than 2000 lbs.), trimming hedges and edges around walks, flowerbeds, and wells.
  • Fasten attachments such as graders, plows, rollers, mowers (over 2000 lbs.), backhoes, seeders, and disc harrows to tractor, adjust equipment for proper operation, lubricate, and make minor repairs to tractor and attachments such as tightening bolts, replacing washers, cotter pins, and screws.
  • Operate industrial grade tractors with batwing shredder attachment within the controlled movement area of an airfield.
  • Use hedge trimmers, clippers, and edging tools, prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears and other hand tools, spray lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer or insecticide.
  • Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs, water lawn and shrubs during dry periods, using hose or activating sprinkler system, pick up and burn or cart away leaves, paper, or other litter.
  • Use a string trimmer and backpack blower.
  • Pass and maintain any required security clearance and comply with Drug‑Free Workplace policy.
  • Adhere to Operations Security (OPSEC) standard operating procedures.
  • Adhere to the Property Control Plan for management of Government Furnished Property (GFP).
  • Adhere to the safety and health program that complies with EM 385‑1‑1 and applicable OSHA, DOD, Armed Forces Branch(s), Federal, state, and local safety, environmental and health requirements.
  • Maintain a site‑specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) in accordance with Appendix A, EM 385‑1‑1.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Must be able to complete and maintain certification to operate a vehicle on the airfield.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to effectively work with other team members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Detail oriented and basic organizational skills.
Education, Skills, and Experience
  • High school education or GED.
  • 1 year relevant work experience operating industrial grade tractors and batwing shredders within a commercial grounds‑keeping environment.
  • Ability to organize effectively, delegate responsibility, solve problems quickly and communicate clearly.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle both internal and external conflicts.
