Job summary

RailWorks is seeking a Traction Power Engineer to lead planning, coordination, and management of traction power activities for rail transit construction projects. You will ensure alignment with contract requirements and project schedules while providing technical support during construction and resolving design conflicts.

The role requires experience in traction power systems, strong reading of plans, and collaboration with contractors and engineers. Travel may be required; a PE is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years traction power/power distribution engineering in a rail transit environment.
• Electrical PE preferred with knowledge of code and standards for electrical work.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management; advanced degree a plus.
• Ability to interpret extensive technical instructions and read plans/specifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and manage traction power activities from design through commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with contract requirements, company standards, and project schedules.
• Provide technical support during construction and resolve design conflicts.
• Oversee design integration to prevent scope gaps and ensure system functionality.
• Manage traction power subcontractors, including scope, schedule, billing, and change orders.
• Prepare project correspondence and review design changes and specifications.
