Job summary

North American Rail Solutions is seeking Trackman I to support installation, maintenance, and repair of railroad track systems. This entry-level role requires physical stamina, safety commitment, and the ability to work outdoors as part of a crew.

Responsibilities include installing and maintaining tracks and related infrastructure, inspecting components, operating basic tools, reporting issues, and assisting in emergencies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior railroad or heavy construction experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and work outdoors.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple job sites including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain railroad tracks, embankments, and related infrastructure.
  • Perform track construction and repair tasks such as replacing rail and ties, adjusting switches, and building track sections.
  • Operate manual tools and specialized hydraulic or pneumatic equipment.
  • Conduct visual inspections of track components to identify wear, damage, or safety concerns.
  • Record work performed and report issues or incidents to supervisors.
  • Respond to after-hours and weekend callouts for emergency track repairs and derailment recovery.
  • Assist in re-railing train cars and restoring track integrity.
  • Participate in safety briefings and discuss jobsite hazards and best practices.
