Job summary

UC San Diego is seeking an Assistant Coach for Track & Field (Throws) to work with the Head Coach in developing training programs and guiding scholar-athletes at a Division I level on the UC San Diego campus in La Jolla.

The role requires a bachelor's degree and recruiting experience, with strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills to manage a diverse group of student-athletes. Evening and weekend commitments are common.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training with a college-level program.
• Recruiting experience at a D1 level with student-athletes that are at a high-academic and high-athletic level.
• Strong interpersonal, motivational and team leadership skills to work effectively with athletic participants.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with others, with an affinity for networking and collaboration.
• Specialized knowledge of the team sport or activity and demonstrated technical expertise in coaching principles.
• Leadership skills to mentor and develop athletes.
• Experience in coordinating and instructing camps of specified sport.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Head Coach to guide and mentor scholar-athletes in competitive collegiate Track and Field.
• Assist in developing training programs, organizing practices, and providing technical instruction to enhance athletes' skills and performance.
• Foster a positive team environment, motivate athletes, and contribute to their growth on and off the field.
