Job summary

Sumter High School seeks an experienced athletics/activities coach responsible for leading athletic programs and ensuring athlete safety. Responsibilities include promoting community relations, conducting parent meetings, and ensuring compliance with district and state athletic regulations.

Candidates should have at least five years of coaching experience and hold or be eligible for South Carolina educator certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of coaching experience.
• Must possess or demonstrate qualifications to obtain South Carolina educator certification.

Responsibilities

• Foster good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
• Ensure health and safety of student athletes; follow safety and first aid procedures; verify physical examinations prior to participation.
• Promote positive relationships with parents and student athletes; conduct parent meetings before seasons.
• Ensure compliance with school, district, SC High School League and affiliated rules; communicate policies to team members.
• Maintain appropriate behavior of coaching staff, players, and team personnel; attend meetings and clinics; sponsor fundraisers and camps.
