Overview

Notice of Vacancy, Date of Notice: February, 2026. Position: Track Coach for 2025-2026 school year season.

Qualifications

• Valid NMPED Coaching License (required if hired), Background check (required if hired)
• Must possess a thorough understanding of the sport
• Demonstrated ability to motivate and maintain discipline with student athletes
• Ability to work effectively with others in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and training necessary to realize individual and team success while teaching moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
• Implement assigned sports program following policies and regulations approved by the Board of Education and interpret rules and regulations of the school and NMAA.
• Refer requests or grievances to Athletic Director, Principal or other appropriate authority.
• Establish philosophies, skills, and techniques to be learned by staff; design conferences, clinics, and staff meetings to ensure staff awareness of overall program; train and inform staff, encourage professional growth and clinic attendance per local policy.
• Delegate specific duties, supervise implementation, analyze program effectiveness.
• Maintain discipline, adjust grievances, and work to increase morale and cooperation.
• Assist the Athletic Director in scheduling, providing transportation and requirements for tournaments and special sport events; assist in preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adhere to scheduled facility times; coordinate program with maintenance and school employees; provide documentation to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent and eligibility.
• Provide proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
• Advise the Athletic Director and recommend policy, method or procedural changes.
