Job summary

Responsibilities include practice planning, scheduling facilities with the Athletic Director, enforcing team rules, supervising events, and maintaining conduct standards on and off the field.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the fundamentals of track & field to improve skill and performance.
• Ability to assess student skills to select team members.
• Ability to set goals for student improvement.
• Develop and organize practice schedules for individual and team development.
• Coordinate with Athletic Director on practice facility scheduling.
• Follow procedures for uniforms and equipment handling.
• Adhere to workplace conduct and safety standards.

• Coach student-athletes during practices and events, emphasizing technique and strategy.
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior and supervise students at all times.
• Monitor academic performance to ensure eligibility for participation.
• Attend in-service trainings and staff meetings as needed.
• Inspect facilities and athletic areas to ensure safety and readiness.
• Supervise athletic events as needed and enforce team rules.
• Model professional conduct and positive sportsmanship at all times.

Job Description-Junior High Track Coach

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for coaching student-athletes in proper techniques and strategies so that they may develop a higher level of skill to utilize in athletic track competition. This position motivates student-athletes to develop an appreciation for the sport and the discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork involved in track.

Reports To: Head Track Coach

Knowledge, Skills & Implementation:

• Knowledge of the fundamentals of track & field including proper techniques to improve skill and performance
• Assess skills to select members of the team
• Work with students and establish goals for improvement
• Develop practice schedule and organize practices to provide both individual development and team building
• Work with Athletic Director in scheduling facilities for practices
• Follow established procedures for uniforms and equipment
• The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substances abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the corporation.

Instructional Leadership

• Work with athletes during practices and events
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior and provide proper supervision of students at all time
• Monitor academic performance of student members ensure eligibility requirements
• Attend in-service training and staff meetings as needed
• Inspect facilities and athletic course
• Supervise athletic events as needed
• Enforce rules of the team, including those regarding tardiness, missed practices and/or games, or sportsmanlike conduct
