Central51 is looking for a Boys Head Track Coach to guide athletes in developing fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training. You will foster an environment that promotes character development and pride in achievement among student athletes.

The ideal candidate will have previous coaching experience, knowledge of track technical aspects, and successfully complete required background checks. This role emphasizes serving as a role model and ensuring safety during events.

Qualifications

• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
• Has substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
• Successful completion of fingerprint based criminal background check (IL State Police and FBI), sex offender and violent youth offender screening, and employment physical.

Job Goal

To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to acceptable character development, self‑discipline, self‑confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
• Follow District approved policies.
• Have knowledge of existing systems and IESA regulations and consistently abide by them.
• Schedule events for the season, transportation, and requirements for each event.
• Assist in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adhere to scheduled facility times.
• Serve as a mentor to each athlete to promote character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
• Provide presence at all practices, games and travel to ensure participant safety and guidance.
• Provide training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete who is a participant.
• Follow programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.
• Complete paperwork on all athletic injuries on proper forms and submit to district office within 24 hours.
