Job summary

Excel Academy Charter School in Rhode Island is seeking a dedicated high school athletics coach for the upcoming season. You will plan daily practices, lead skill development, and supervise student-athletes at games, tournaments, and school events after school and on weekends.

You'll collaborate with coaching staff, uphold school policies, promote sportsmanship and academic responsibility, and help maintain a safe and organized practice environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework or degree preferred.
• Previous experience at the high school or collegiate level, or demonstrated knowledge of rules, strategies, and skill development.
• Ability to work effectively with high school-aged student-athletes and support their athletic, academic, and personal growth.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate with athletic staff, school administrators, parents/guardians, and students.
• Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and development-focused team culture.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including afternoons, evenings, and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and lead daily practices that focus on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and preparation for competition.
• Coach and supervise student-athletes during all scheduled games, tournaments, and school-approved events, including evenings and weekends as required.
• Maintain consistent communication with the coaching staff to support player development, program alignment, and smooth progression within the program.
• Uphold and enforce all school, league, and athletic department policies, including expectations related to conduct, attendance, and eligibility.
• Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes by promoting academic responsibility, respectful behavior, and good sportsmanship.
• Assist with equipment management, gym setup and breakdown, and maintaining a safe and organized practice and competition environment.
