Job summary

Educational Service Center of Central Ohio invites applications for Head Coach. The role focuses on developing student athletes, planning in-season practices, and coordinating intramural and interscholastic contests with the athletic director.

You will maintain equipment and records, enforce discipline and safety, and communicate with parents and parent groups to support student growth and sportsmanship. Salary and terms are established by the Board.

Qualifications

• Valid Ohio certification/licensure.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
• Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
• Works closely with the athletic director in the scheduling of intramural and interscholastic contests.
• Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate.
• Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
• Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
• Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach’s sport.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by the individual students.
• Maintains communication with parents & parent organizations.

REPORTS TO:

JOB GOAL:

To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

Performance of this job is evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
