Job summary

Mattel HQ, Inc. in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Product Development Engineer II to support technical product innovation and translate concepts into manufacturable solutions. You will mentor with senior engineers and ensure targets in safety, quality, and schedule are met.

Responsibilities include guiding design feasibility, developing mechanisms, and creating BOMs while coordinating with tooling houses and plants across the NPD lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in an Engineering discipline preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience in the toys or consumer goods industry.
  • Fundamental understanding of common Engineering principles and practices.
  • General understanding of plastics production processes and assembly techniques.
  • Experience and practice in CAD software (SolidWorks/Creo).

Responsibilities

  • Provides feedback to design and PMs during initial concept stages to determine feasibility of planned toy.
  • Assists with development of new mechanisms and breadboard models.
  • Create engineering BOM.
  • Point of contact with dev houses, tooling and plants, providing design guidance.
  • Translate design vision into technical specs for development houses, tooling, plants.
  • Define product function through Functional Spec.
  • Perform routine engineering activities relative to various processes in product development.
