Job summary

Mattel in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Quality Engineer II to join the Quality Engineering leadership team. You will support product development from concept through launch, ensuring toys meet global safety regulations and internal quality standards.

You will collaborate across Design, Development, Packaging, Regulations, and Manufacturing, translate concepts into robust test plans, perform root cause analysis, and drive improvements based on data and field performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or Electrical Engineering.
• 2-5 years of quality engineering, product development, or manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of global toy safety standards (ASTM F963, CPSIA, EN71, ISO).

Responsibilities

• Support product development from concept through launch with focus on safety and quality.
• Develop and maintain PRDs and PCDs in eQMS, aligning with safety, performance and play.
• Translate concepts into test plans covering mechanical, physical, chemical, and abuse testing.
• Participate in design reviews, advising on safety, durability, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with internal labs and testing facilities to ensure regulatory and brand conformance.
• Use data from testing and field performance to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Investigate product failures and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Support risk management activities (FMEA) to mitigate product and process risks.
