Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join our Houston, TX team. Schedule: Tue-Sat 4:00pm-12:30am with potential overtime. The role focuses on specimen acceptability, technical testing, instrumentation maintenance, and timely reporting of results to support patient care.

Minimum qualifications include a related bachelor’s degree and clinical lab experience or MLS. Preferred candidates may have Labcorp experience or ASCP/AMT certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE.
