Job summary

Wayne Township Trustee Office and Fire Department is seeking an Township Accounting Specialist to handle township financial processing in alignment with policies and GAAP. You will support the Finance Department and collaborate with departments and residents with diplomacy and tact.

Responsibilities include accounts payable/receivable, payroll input, board meeting support, and maintaining vendor records. Strong accounting basics and MS Office proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Two or more years in Township Assistance or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Understanding of accounting principles, knowledge of payroll processing
  • High level of organizational skills.
  • Facility with numbers, calculations
  • Skilled in the use of a personal computer and the Microsoft suite of software programs; experience with database utilization

Responsibilities

  • Review invoices, pairing with the appropriate, approved purchase order and packing slips
  • Properly code invoices for accounting entry
  • Township credit card reconciliation
  • Maintenance of Tom’s Web vendor list
  • Provide documents and other necessary items for accounting department and/or contractor
  • Code receipts appropriately for entry
  • Manage and code ambulance billing
  • Manage and track medical insurance payments from retirees
  • Input employee information and changes into Paylocity
  • Assist with payroll input and processing
  • Prepare Township board meeting agendas and minutes
  • Email agendas and minutes to board members and appropriate Township personnel
  • Perform other duties as requested

Summary

Functions
  • This position requires long periods of sitting and standing
  • A high degree of interpersonal interaction, speaking with individuals and groups is

  • Employees may be required to lift and carry up to 20 lbs
  • Dexterity, use of a computer keyboard is required
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations, and make decisions based on laws and
  • policies, and the ability to interpret those laws and policies
  • Must have the ability to prioritze a workload, meet deadlines, adjust based on demands,
  • and organize a number of projects, and work through a number of process toward
  • project completion.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, use discretion with personal and private information
  • Must be able to make decisions, with information available, in stressful situations
