Job summary

Betacom in Birmingham, AL seeks an experienced Tower Technician to lead installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications towers and related equipment. You will climb towers (100 feet+), manage safety, and mentor team members while delivering high-quality work under varying weather conditions.

The role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and heavy lifting abilities; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have Highschool diploma or equivalent.
• 3 to 4 years industry experience.
• Excellent communication skills, reading and writing skills (English).
• Good computer skills; MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Clean Driving Record with valid license and reliable transportation.
• Must be able to travel out of town if required.
• ComTrain, OSHA10, RFA awareness training, First Aid/CPR trained.
• Must have experience with Anritsu SiteMaster, Andrew, PPC and towermapping/antenna equipment.
• Experience stacking self-support towers and installing waveguide, antennas, microwave dishes.
• RFA awareness, replacement, and maintenance of coax, jumpers, TMA’s, connectors, weatherproofing.
• Highly organized; ability to report verbally and in writing to Tower Foreman.

Responsibilities

• Climbs and works on communication towers to install, replace, and repair antennas and equipment.
• Uses hand tools and mechanical equipment; ensures proper safety practices.
• Maintains safety standards; verifies tools and rigging are safe to use.
• Completes daily Job Safety Analysis and follows project scope and SOPs.
• Develops and writes detailed procedures for jobs/projects.
• Leads and mentors tower technicians; ensures work is within budget and quality standards.

OVERVIEW:

Leads and assists in the construction, installation, and maintenance of communications towers and support structures and related telecommunications equipment. Leads by example to facilitate timely job completion. Tower Technicians work irregular hours, travel frequently, and work at great heights in extreme weather conditions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Thebasicuseandcareofhandtoolsandmechanicalequipment.
