Job Summary
Responsible for the installation of all aspects of wireless tower site electronics and hardware, cabling, and electrical where applicable.
Responsibilities
- Successfully complete and maintain the tower safety and rescue training program.
- Climb and work on communications towers to install, replace, and repair antenna systems equipment; perform tower maintenance.
- Use hand tools and mechanical equipment; inspect completed work to ensure hardware is tight, antennas are level, hangers are proper, support is adequate, and weather proofing installed.
- Complete and document JSA (Job Safety Analysis) before and after each tower climb.
- Run power, ground, fiber, Cat5e and/or coaxial cables; check antenna positioning for azimuths or mechanical tilts.
- Inspect telecommunications equipment, identify problems and adjust for optimal performance.
- Climb tall structures up to 500 feet with a load.
- Communicate orally and in writing; take site photos and transport equipment using utility trucks and trailers.
- Lift equipment into place safely using rigging tools or equipment such as a capstan hoist.
- Complete reports related to outages, project status, progress, or other work details.
- Follow vehicle fleet safety policy and maintain a valid driver license.
Skills & Qualifications
- Comfortable with recent outdoor work experience.
- Working knowledge of basic hand tools, mechanical equipment, and electro‑mechanical equipment.
- Basic computer skills, email and text messaging.
- Team‑oriented mentality and safety consciousness.
- Pass drug screening and criminal background check.
- Complete in‑house training program.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Physical & Working Conditions
- Outdoor work in cold, hot, precipitation, and wind.
- Proximity to heavy machinery, moving vehicles, high noise level.
- Use of PPE; climbing up to 500 feet.
- Stationary position 8‑10 hours a day; frequent moving and transporting heavy objects.
- Must be able to pull own body weight plus equipment up a vertical tower repeatedly.
Work Schedule & Travel
- Irregular hours, Monday to Friday, full time (min 40 hrs), flexible schedule, overtime as needed.
- On call rotation; include Saturdays and Sundays.
- 20‑40% travel; overnight travel required as needed.
