Job Summary
Responsible for the installation of all aspects of wireless tower site electronics and hardware, cabling, and electrical where applicable.
Essential Functions
- Successfully complete and maintain the tower safety and rescue training program.
- Climb and work on communications towers to install, replace, and repair antenna system equipment; perform tower maintenance.
- Use hand tools and mechanical equipment safely; understand hazards related to tower climbing and energized lines.
- Inspect completed work to ensure all hardware is tight, antennas are level, hangers properly fastened, and adequate weatherproofing is installed.
- Complete a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) before each tower climb and document once the job is completed.
- Recognize safety hazards and perform duties in a safe manner.
- Run appropriate power, ground, fiber, Cat5e, and/or coaxial cables.
- Check antenna positioning to ensure specified azimuths or mechanical tilts and adjust as necessary.
- Inspect telecommunications equipment to identify problems and adjust equipment for optimal performance.
- Climb tall structures up to 500 feet with a load, maintaining safety equipment and techniques from training.
- Transport and position equipment safely using rigging tools or equipment such as a capstan hoist.
- Complete reports related to outages, project status, progress, or other work details using phone and computer software.
- Take site photos to document completed work.
- Adhere to the Nextlink Vehicle Fleet Safety Policy and carry a valid driver’s license.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills Required
- Experience working outdoors and with basic hand tools.
- Basic computer skills, including email and text messaging.
- Team‑oriented mentality and strong safety consciousness.
- Ability to work alone and closely with others.
- Ability to lift and move equipment, including 50‑pound objects, and pull personal weight plus equipment up a vertical tower repeatedly.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Working knowledge of basic hand tools, mechanical equipment, and electro‑mechanical equipment.

Work Environment and Hazards
Working outdoors in cold, hot, precipitation, wind, proximity to heavy machinery and moving vehicles. Exposure to high noise levels. Requires use of personal protective equipment. Climbing and working in an elevated position up to 500 feet.
Physical Demands
- Stationary position for 8–10 hours a day.
- Frequently moving, transporting, and positioning objects of 50 pounds or more.
- Pull own body weight plus equipment weight repeatedly up a vertical tower.
- Stand, walk, stoop, sit, and climb ladders and communication towers.
- Use hand and power tools frequently.
Working Hours and Schedule
Monday through Friday, full time minimum 40 hours, flexible schedule. Overtime as needed. On‑call rotation required, including Saturdays and Sundays.
Travel Requirements
20–40% voluntary travel or as needed. Overnight travel required as needed.
