Qualifications

  • Junior or graduate student in a related field between January and May.
  • Resident of Houston area or willing to relocate for Jan–May 2027.
  • Proficient with Excel and Microsoft Office; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Support project management for event planning, tracking timelines and deliverables.
  • Support Pro-Am tournaments, youth clinics, and sponsor events.
  • Help plan and assist with executive-level administrative tasks.
  • Serve as primary communication point with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Manage event budgets and maintain financial records.
  • Provide hands-on support during events and coordinate across departments.
  • Organize confidential documents with discretion and support process improvements.

Department: Astros Golf Foundation

Reports to: Office Administrator

Classification: Part-time/Non-exempt/Seasonal

Period: January 4, 2027 - May 5, 2027

Summary

The Astros Golf Foundation, proud host organization of Houston’s PGA TOUR event, the Texas Children’s Houston Open, is seeking a Tournament Services Intern to support special events, pro-ams and executive operations for the tournament and other high-profile events. Responsibilities include event logistics vendor coordinator, sponsor relations, project coordination, stakeholder communication, budget tracking, and executive-level administrative support. Interns will work closely with leadership, vendors, and departments such as Volunteers, Ticketing, Sponsorship, Operations, Finance, and Retail. Candidates must be professional, detail-oriented, and capable of handling confidential information in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Support project management for event planning, including tracking timelines and key deliverables.
  • Support tournament Pro-Am tournaments, youth clinics, & sponsor events.
  • Help plan
  • Assist with executive-level administrative tasks such as preparing materials and coordinating meetings.
  • Serve as a primary point of communication with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • manage event budgets and maintain financial records.
  • Provide hands‑on support during the Texas Children’s Houston Open and other Astros Golf Foundation events.
  • Collaborate across departments—including Sponsorship, Volunteers, Ticketing, Finance, and Operations—to ensure smooth execution of events.
  • Organize and maintain confidential documents with discretion.
  • Contribute to process improvements and gain exposure to high‑level event operations and management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least Junior level college/university student or graduate student enrolled in a related field (Sports Management, Hospitality, Business, or a related field) between January & May
  • Reside or willing to relocate to/near the Houston, Texas area from January 4-May 5, 2027, at your own expense.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • High level of professionalism with ability to thrive in a fast‑paced team environment.
  • Superior attention to detail and deadline orientation.
  • Ability to work efficiently.
  • Highly motivated with strong work ethic.
  • Ability to maintain discretion concerning confidential records.

Work Environment

This job will operate in both an office and golf course setting. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the golf course environment. This role can require physical work and will sometimes require work in the elements (wind, rain, warm, cold, etc). This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision. Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50lbs. Ability to walk long distances and/or stand for long periods of time.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a paid internship.

Typical hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Interns are required to be onsite during the week of the Texas Children’s Houston Open, as well as for all other events produced by the Astros Golf Foundation throughout the period of their internship.

Travel:

This position does not require travel.
