Job summary

PGA of America Corporate in Frisco, TX is seeking a non‑supervisory internship to support Championship operations and administration. You will assist with course preparations, on‑course leader boards, shipping/receiving, and on‑site office setups, while working with staff and volunteers at events.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent and being a rising junior or recent graduate enrolled in a degree program. Golf interest preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support in course preparations (marking, rope and stake installation, signage, on-course leader boards).
  • Provide administrative support and computer scoring operations (Golf Genius) for Championships.
  • Assist with shipping/receiving for Championships.
  • Organize on-site Championship Office setups and assist volunteer operations.
  • Support breakdown and packing after events; assist other Championship staff as needed.

Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES (Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

Provide operational function/support in course preparations, which may include but not limited to course marking, rope and stake installation, course signage, and on-course leader boards.

Provide administrative function/support, computer scoring operations (Golf Genius), and communication support for PGA Member, Spectator, and Amateur Championships as assigned.

Assist with all Championship event shipping and receiving.

Assist with organizing set-ups of temporary on-site Championship Offices.

Assist with Championship volunteer operations.

When the event is completed, assist the Championship Department Staff with the breakdown of the course, offices, volunteer headquarters, and other areas to be determined at site.

Assist with unpacking and packing the semi-trailers for events the intern is working on.

Assist Championship Department Staff elsewhere when needed.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma, or equivalent. Must be a rising Junior or above enrolled in a degree program or a recent college graduate.

Golf background or strong interest in golf required

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Must have knowledge of business operations with an emphasis in administrative support, finance and/or operations. Working knowledge of computer design software such as Adobe Creative Suite. Working knowledge of Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Docs. Basic fluency in artificial intelligence (AI) tools and concepts. This includes using AI to enhance business operations and drive innovation, enabling us to better serve our Members and stakeholders.

Ability to travel for extended periods in various modes of transportation, including overnight travel, at times in excess of 7 nights at a time (when at the event site), is required. Ability to work overtime, including weekends (sometimes up to 15 hours a day).

Ability to transport moderately heavy tournament equipment and supplies.

Events Scheduled to Work:

January 6 - February 20: Winter Championships - PGA Golf Club - Florida ~60 OT hours

March 1 - March 19: PGA Club Championship - Pinehurst - North Carolina ~40 OT hours

April 6 - April 11: SR PGA Championship - The Concession Golf Club - Florida ~60 OT hours

April 11 - May 1: PGA Professional Championship - Streamsong Resort - Florida ~60 OT hours

May 11 - May 24: PGA Championship - PGA Frisco, Fields Ranch - Texas ~70 OT hours

Past Interns:

Past interns have secured jobs with the PGA of America Championship Department, PGA of America sections, PGA Tour, and some have become Head Golf Professionals at prestigious courses in the country.

Hourly Rate: $15.00 per hour

Length of Internship: 4 ½ months
