Job summary

Opry Entertainment Group in Nashville seeks a dynamic Tour Guide to tell the story of our iconic venues. You will lead engaging walking tours, share legends of artists, performances, and venue history, and create memorable experiences for guests during live entertainment.

Ideal candidates are outgoing, reliable, and passionate about our musical legacy. You will operate audio devices, guide groups safely, answer questions, and assist with opening/closing duties and guest photo opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Present high-energy, entertaining, scripted tour while escorting groups through the facility.
• Collect and scan tickets from individuals or groups. Provide confident and friendly directional guidance to guests.
• Respond to questions about the venue. Distribute brochures, coupons, and general information. Share your interest in upcoming events in our venues.
• Manage and maintain tour equipment. Keep listening devices and radios charged and clean. Operate video equipment to accompany tour presentations. Report issues to management.
• Maintain exhibits to the highest degree of quality. Communicate with venue leadership to ensure proper maintenance and repair of the physical facility and contents.
• Ensure that tour guests are presented with a photo opportunity.
• Ensure that guests stay with the tour group. Present clear instructions, directions, and safety guidelines throughout. Support security in protecting assets and ensuring the safety of guests.
• Assist management in opening and closing duties as assigned, including turning on lights, positioning ropes and stanchions, setting up tour videos, and other assigned tasks.
• Model company service basics. Follow all corporate policies, safety and security procedures, and brand SOPs. Promptly report accidents, facility issues, or unsafe conditions to management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience

• Customer service and/or public speaking experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Effective interpersonal, verbal, and listening communication skills required
• Excellent public speaking skills required
• Ability to learn and retain tour information upon hire

Physical Requirements

Speak and hear to communicate and use both near and far vision. Ability to speak loudly for extended lengths throughout the day. Stand and walk for extended periods, including on uneven surfaces and while carrying items. Walk up and down stairs while navigating the venue. Frequently lift/carry up to 25 lbs. Occasionally team-lift over 50 lbs. Continually use gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills.

Working Conditions

Entertainment environments, with large crowds, occasionally with elevated noise levels.
