Job summary

Boulder Valley School District is seeking a Data & Instructional Coach TOSA at Broomfield Heights Middle to work with school and district leaders, ensuring equitable student outcomes through Data Driven Instruction and high-leverage instructional strategies.

The role involves coaching teachers, modeling instruction, and leading professional development aligned to the BVSD Instructional Model. 186 days, 0.727 FTE, limited term through 05/24/2027.

Qualifications

  • Colorado teaching license or in-process documentation.
  • Complete 20-hour READ Act Administrator Training prior to start.
  • Minimum three years of experience analyzing student data.
  • Minimum two years of coaching at school/district level.
  • BVSD online application completed.
  • READ Act Designation requirements met if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of data-driven instruction (DDI) as part of the school improvement plan.
  • Facilitate collaborative data conversations to plan student learning.
  • Coach building leaders to develop teachers' data conversations.
  • Collaborate with the Principal to monitor data-driven instruction and BVSD model.
  • Engage in district professional learning on equity-based instructional coaching.
  • Provide feedback to teachers to ensure data-driven, standards-aligned instruction.
  • Model, co-plan, and co-teach with teachers.
  • Deliver differentiated universal and targeted instruction for diverse learners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary:

The Data & Instructional Coach TOSA partners with school and district leaders to ensure equitable student outcomes by supporting the implementation of Data Driven Instruction (DDI) work, school level coaching and professional development for teachers and administrators in the use of high leverage instructional strategies and assessment tools which have a direct impact on student growth and achievement.

Responsibilities:
  • Support implementation of data driven instruction (DDI) as part of the school improvement plan, including preparation for data meetings.
  • Facilitate collaborative data conversations to analyze a variety of educational assessment materials and plan for student learning.
  • Support building leaders in creating professional learning opportunities to develop the capacity of teachers to facilitate and lead data conversations.
  • In collaboration with the Principal, coach and monitor the implementation of data-driven instruction & the use of the BVSD Instructional Model throughout the school.
  • Engage in ongoing district professional learning regarding equity based instructional coaching and the implementation of Data-Driven Instruction.
  • Coach and Provide feedback to teachers to ensure all students have access to data-driven, standards aligned, culturally & linguistically responsive instruction.
  • Model, co-plan and co-teach alongside teachers.
  • Coach teachers to deliver differentiated universal and targeted instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners (e.g., language supports for emerging bilinguals, accommodations for students with IEPs or 504 Plans, or extensions for Gifted & Talented students).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process (must upload license or in process documentation to application.
  • Must have completed 20 hour READ Act Administrator Training, or ability to complete prior to beginning of the academic year.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with student data analysis.
  • Minimum two years of Coaching experience at the school or district level.
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
  • The READ Act SB 19-199 (PDF) and SB22-004 (PDF) requires that all Colorado teachers who provide literacy instruction to students must earn a “READ Act Designation” by meeting specific requirements. Preferred:

  • Cognitive Coaching and/or Adaptive schools Training or ability to obtain
  • Understanding of practices and protocols used to support Data Driven Instruction (DDI).
  • Understanding of practices and systems of Multi Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
  • Ability to engage in coaching conversations with both school leaders and teachers.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in self-directed activities, work collaboratively, and take initiative to complete tasks.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and build relations with administrators, teachers, specialists, and parents, both verbally and in writing.
  • Skilled in group facilitation, coordination, and leadership.
  • Strong understanding of equity principles related to instructional design and best practices.
  • Skilled in supporting language development and Emerging Bilingual students.
  • Strong track record of successful student outcomes.
