Job summary

Higgs Fletcher & Mack LLP seeks a skilled Paralegal to support tort and employment cases in San Diego. The role includes intake, investigation, discovery, and trial preparation, requiring discretion and strong writing ability.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate and at least five years of employment law or civil litigation experience, with proficiency in legal software such as iManage, Westlaw, and related tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate preferred.
• Minimum five years of employment law or civil litigation experience.
• Strong knowledge of court procedures and legal terminology.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates strong understanding of state and federal civil procedure and deadlines.
• Reviews and organizes employment records and investigation materials.
• Coordinates witnesses and supports expert reports and testimony.
• Drafts pleadings, motions, petitions, and discovery responses.
• Prepares discovery materials, deposition outlines, and exhibit binders.
• Manages subpoenas, scheduling, and calendaring.
• Maintains case files and e-documents using Eclipse and firm platforms.
• Provides administrative support including scanning, emailing, and formatting.
• Communicates professionally with clients, attorneys, and opposing counsel.
• Conducts factual research and compiles information relevant to tort and employment matters.
