Job summary

VSE Consulting Group LLC is seeking an early-career Process Engineer – Torque Improvement to support an automotive manufacturing improvement project in the Bloomington-Normal, Illinois area. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
• Approximately 2–3 years of manufacturing experience.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Willingness to spend significant time on the manufacturing floor.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate torque, fastening, tooling, and assembly processes on the shop floor.
• Analyze torque curves, tool fault data, and controller results for trends.
• Perform structured root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and validate torque parameters, process settings, PFMEA, control plans.
• Participate in GEMBAs, process reviews, torque-station audits, and CI activities.
• Verify calibration, preventive maintenance, and process documentation.
• Maintain action-item lists, data summaries, dashboards, and reports.
• Develop work instructions and training materials.
• Follow customer policies and requirements.
