Job summary

United Felts, a Vortex Company, in Martinsville, VA, is seeking a manufacturing associate to support production lines and uphold quality standards. You will review construction and customer sheets, help with machine setups, label issues, and maintain cleanliness while following safety policies.

On-the-job training of 3 months is provided, with opportunities to grow in a fast-paced environment that values teamwork and reliability. Competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• GED/High School Diploma or previous manufacturing experience.
• Satisfactorily complete 3 months on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

• Read construction sheet and customer requirement sheet to meet customer needs.
• Assist co-workers in machine setups and wrapping/strapping material.
• Participate in reporting quality problems to Supervisor immediately.
• Label problem areas in the liner.
• Verify correct machine settings are in use.
• Attach leaders and keep them identified clearly.
• Clean machine parts per cleaning schedule.
• Assist with positioning of joints.
• Maintain weld alignment (centered and solid where possible).
• Ensure press roller is down during the entire run.
• Stay in assigned working area and perform maintenance duties as needed.
• Review supplies and report shortages.
• Follow safety policies and keep a clean work environment.

Job description

• Read construction sheet and customer requirement sheet fully in order to meet the customer requirements.
• Assist co-workers in machine setups.
• Assisting co-workers in wrapping and strapping material.
• Participate in reporting any quality problems to Supervisor immediately.
• Label any problem areas in the liner.
• Participate in verifying that correct machine settings are in use.
• Responsible for attaching leaders and keeping them identified clearly.
• Responsible for cleaning machine parts per cleaning schedule.
• Assist with the positioning of joints.
• Keep a constant check of weld (centered and where possible, solid).
• Ensure press roller is down during the entire duration of a run.
• Stay in assigned working area.
• Perform maintenance duties as needed.
• Continually review supplies and report to your Supervisor any shortages.
• Work in a safe manner at all times by following the company safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean work environment by performing cleaning duties as required.
• Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.
• Will at times be asked to perform other duties.
