Job summary

United Felts, A Vortex Company, is hiring for a hands-on manufacturing role in Martinsville. You will work in our growing trenchless infrastructure business, following safety policies and supporting teammates to meet customer specifications.

You’ll perform setup, material handling, quality checks, and routine maintenance while learning on-the-job. Our comprehensive benefits and stable 401(k) plan support long-term career growth.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma or prior manufacturing experience.
• 3 months of on-the-job training completed.

Responsibilities

• Read construction and customer requirement sheets to meet specs.
• Assist co-workers in machine setups.
• Assist with wrapping and strapping material.
• Report quality problems to Supervisor immediately.
• Label and identify problem areas in the liner.
• Verify correct machine settings are in use.
• Attach leaders and ensure they are clearly identified.
• Clean machine parts per schedule.
• Position joints and check welds are centered and solid.
• Ensure press roller remains down during runs.
• Check propane tank weight daily.
• Maintain a clean work environment and perform required duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Read construction sheet and customer requirement sheet fully in order to meet the customer requirements.
• Assist co-workers in machine setups.
• Assisting co-workers in wrapping and strapping material.
• Participate in reporting any quality problems to Supervisor immediately.
• Label any problem areas in the liner.
• Participate in verifying that correct machine settings are in use.
• Responsible for attaching leaders and keeping them identified clearly.
• Responsible for cleaning machine parts per cleaning schedule.
• Assist with the positioning of joints.
• Keep a constant check of weld (centered and where possible, solid).
• Ensure press roller is down during the entire duration of a run.
• Check propane tan weight daily.
• Stay in assigned working area.
• Perform maintenance duties as needed.
• Continually review supplies and report to your Supervisor any shortages.
• Work in a safe manner at all times by following the company safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean work environment by performing cleaning duties as required.
• Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.
• Will at times be asked to perform other duties.

Education & Experienc e

• GED/High School Diploma or previous manufacturing experience
• Satisfactorily complete 3 months on-the-job training
