Job summary

United Felts, A Vortex Company, is seeking to fill a manufacturing role in Martinsville, VA. The position involves reading construction sheets, assisting with machine setups, and ensuring proper welding and material handling on the production line.

The role requires a GED or high school diploma (or prior manufacturing experience) and completion of 3 months of on-the-job training. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• 3 months on-the-job training completed satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

• Read construction sheet and customer requirement sheet fully to meet customer requirements.
• Assist co-workers in machine setups.
• Assist co-workers in wrapping and strapping material.
• Report quality problems to Supervisor immediately.
• Label problem areas in the liner.
• Verify that correct machine settings are in use.
• Attach leaders and keep them identified clearly.
• Clean machine parts per the cleaning schedule.
• Assist with positioning of joints.
• Ensure weld is centered and solid where possible.
• Check press roller is down during the entire run.
• Stay in assigned working area.
• Perform maintenance duties as needed.
• Review supplies and report shortages to Supervisor.
• Work safely following company policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean work environment; perform cleaning duties as required.
• Perform other related duties; may be asked to perform other duties.

• Participate in verifying that correct machine settings are in use.
• Responsible for attaching leaders and keeping them identified clearly.
• Responsible for cleaning machine parts per cleaning schedule.
• Assist with the positioning of joints.
• Keep a constant check of weld (centered and where possible, solid).
• Ensure press roller is down during the entire duration of a run.
• Stay in assigned working area.
• Perform maintenance duties as needed.
• Continually review supplies and report to your Supervisor any shortages.
• Work in a safe manner at all times by following the company safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean work environment by performing cleaning duties as required.
• Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.
• Will at times be asked to perform other duties.
