Job summary

Bowhead is seeking a skilled full-time ISSO/Information System Security Officer to join our Dahlgren, VA team. The ISSO will identify and mitigate vulnerabilities, perform vulnerability scans, and apply system, network, and OS hardening techniques to protect critical DoD networks.

The ideal candidate has strong background in networking concepts and protocols, plus experience with DoD security tools (ACAS, HBSS/Trellix ESS). Travel is rare, and Top Secret clearance is required for the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience required.
• IAM Level II certification required.
• Knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and network security methodologies.
• Familiarity with DoD security tools and vulnerability management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct vulnerability scans and identify vulnerabilities in security systems.
• Use DoD network analysis tools to identify vulnerabilities (ACAS, HBSS).
• Conduct application vulnerability assessments.
• Identify systemic security issues from vulnerability and configuration data.
• Share insights to improve the organization’s risk posture.
• Apply cybersecurity and privacy principles to organizational requirements.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose cyber defense infrastructure anomalies.
• Perform impact/risk assessments.
