Job summary

Inter American Oilworks is seeking a Top Drive Systems Manager in the Midland–Odessa area. This hybrid, full-time role oversees installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of top drive systems on drilling rigs to ensure performance, reliability, and safety.

You will coordinate field service work, monitor equipment, and manage inspections and upgrades. You will train technicians, review service reports, and collaborate with rig crews, logistics, and customers to plan equipment moves

Qualifications

• Must have verifiable experience refurbishing OEM top drive components (NOV Varco, Canrig, Tesco TDS11)
• Strong communication and customer service when coordinating with rig personnel, vendors, and teams
• Demonstrated commitment to safety standards and PPE procedures
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service docs, and equipment specs
• Willingness to mentor field technicians and handle field service calls/troubleshooting
• Proven leadership and scheduling skills in field operations or mechanical services environments

Responsibilities

Role Description

The Top Drive Systems Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in the Midland-Odessa area, with some flexibility for work from home, this woukd be case by case coord with operations .This role oversees the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of top drive systems used on drilling rigs, ensuring equipment performance, reliability, and safety. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating schedules for field service work, monitoring equipment status, and managing documentation for inspections, repairs, and upgrades. The manager collaborates with rig crews, trucking and logistics teams, and customers to plan equipment moves, deliveries, and on-site support. The role also involves training team members on safe handling of top drive systems, reviewing service reports, and implementing improvements to processes and customer service.

OWI has a modern shop and offices for this work and a portable dyno for running out refurbs

there could be possibilitys of power catwalk work and iron rougneck overhauls to keep the shop busy

Qualifications

must have verifiable experience in full refurbs of the OEMs IE: NOV Varco, Canrig , Tesco TDS11 are very popular in the permian basin

• Strong Communication and Customer Service skills for working with rig personnel, vendors, and internal teams.
• Experience with drilling rig equipment, particularly top drive systems, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety standards, adherence to industry regulations, and use of proper PPE and procedures.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, service documentation, and equipment specifications.
• Willingness and ability to mentor field service technicians and be able to field service calls / troubleshoot
• Proven leadership, team coordination, and scheduling skills in a field operations or mechanical services environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate or degree in mechanical, industrial, or petroleum-related field is beneficial.
